L’aurora boreale è la danza della luce, un fenomeno naturale che colora il cielo notturno di varie tonalità di verde, rosso e azzurro. Le aurore polari nascono quando le particelle cariche, di origine solare, colpiscono la ionosfera terrestre. L’interazione è più forte attorno ai poli magnetici della Terra, ecco perché le aurore sono visibili in queste zone. Quando fa buio e il cielo è sereno, si possono vedere a occhio nudo, se si è fortunati. Quindi alzate lo sguardo verso la cupola e aspettate: il live streaming arriva in diretta dall’osservatorio di Geofisica di Sodankylä, dell’Università di Oulu. In caso di ridotta visibilità, verranno proiettate le immagini dell’Aurora Borealis del fotografo naturalista finlandese Sampsa Sulonen.

The aurora borealis is the dance of the light, a natural phenomenon that colors the night sky of many shades of green, red and blue. Polar aurora are born when the charged particles of solar origin hit the Earth’s ionosphere. The interaction is stronger around the magnetic poles of the Earth, which is why the aurorae are visible in these areas. When it’s dark and the sky is clear, if you’re lucky you can see them with the naked eye. So look up at the dome and wait: live streaming comes from the Sodankylä Geophysics Observatory of University of Oulu. In case of reduced visibility, it will be projected the images of the Aurora Borealis of the Finnish naturalist photographer Sampsa Sulonen.
